Hilda 'Baci' Bassey Set to Break Guinness World Record for Longest Cooking Marathon

You’re about to witness a truly remarkable culinary feat as Hilda ‘Baci’ Bassey aims to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking session ever.

The current record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds, held by Lata Tondon in India, is about to be shattered.

An incredible 97 hours will be devoted to cooking by Hilda, a 27-year-old psychology graduate. Standing for the entire time and taking only five minutes of breaks per hour is her option. She will choose whether she wants to accumulate her breaks or take them on a regular basis.

Hilda has undergone extensive preparation for this event, including a 24-hour test run, losing 20 kilograms of weight, and working with a nutritionist and trainer to stay in optimal physical condition.

The event is scheduled for the 11th through the 15th of May 2023 at the Amore Gardens Lekki, Lagos. It is free to attend, but you must RSVP.

There will be no charge for the food Hilda cooks at the event. It will feature 100 strictly Nigerian dishes, including Jollof rice, fried chicken, fried turkey, Moi Moi, Akara, porridge, pancakes, and Egusi soup.

The rich culture of Nigerian cuisine and Hilda’s culinary skills are what she looks forward to showcasing as a cooking instructor.

You can also watch the live stream.

This world record attempt is not just about breaking records; it’s also about celebrating the Nigerian food culture and promoting the country’s diverse cuisine to the world. Hilda is an inspiration to many, and we cannot wait to witness her achieve this remarkable feat.
